Signing of the 1st hotel in Bordeaux Canopia for Suitcase Hospitality under the TRIBE banner with Apsys

An “urban haute-couture” project, the CANOPIA district aims to create a new hub in the heart of Bordeaux, opposite the Saint-Jean train station, by completely overhauling the existing district by 2026. A genuine link between the Garonne and the station, Canopia is a mixed-use, lively and virtuous district, combining multiple functions (retail, housing, offices, hotels and services).

The program for this piece of the city combines new shops, services, leisure activities and restaurants spread over 45,000 m², complemented by 6,500 m² of offices, 6,400 m² of housing, including shared accommodation, 13,000 m² of outdoor spaces and 750 parking spaces.

A HOTEL WITH THE LIFESTYLE TRIBE BRAND

The French hotel group Suitcase Hospitality is developing a hotel with the lifestyle brand TRIBE, to be operated under franchise by the Accor Group. Rated 4 stars, the hotel has a total of 141 rooms, including 3 loft apartments, spread over 5 floors. The hotel also boasts a rooftop bar-restaurant on the 4th floor and a swimming pool on the 5th floor, as well as two premium areas, both offering unrivalled views over Bordeaux and the Garonne. It is also certified by the Clef Verte / Green Key tourism label, the first international sustainable tourism ecolabel rewarding establishments that reduce their environmental impact.

DESIGN BY MICHAEL MALAPERT

In the same lifestyle spirit as the TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen, which opened its doors last January, the “TRIBE Bordeaux Centre Gare Saint-Jean” is designed to meet the desires and aspirations of the modern traveler. Defined by the way of life of today’s customers, it reinvents the codes of premium hotels with a contemporary, reinvented approach to travel. The hotel will concentrate the essentials of a sophisticated and unique design experience imagined by Michael Malapert (Maison Malapert), ultimate comfort without superfluity, at an accessible price. Its rooftop Social Hub, a versatile and convivial space for TRIBE hotels, is a new meeting point for local life, whether for neighbors, employees of nearby companies, travelers or students, to work, eat, socialize or entertain, at any time of day.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Suitcase Hospitality. The opening of the TRIBE hotel symbolizes and embodies the spirit of the CANOPIA project, which is characterized by innovative concepts that cater for all types of use. A strong identity, a place that is trendy, design-oriented and upscale: these will be the assets of this hotel, which will be one of the spearheads of this future district”, declares François Agache, Managing Director of Development and Operations at Apsys.

THE SUITCASE HOSPITALTY GROUP’S 15TH HOTEL

“This “TRIBE Bordeaux Centre Gare Saint-Jean” will be the 15th address in our hotel portfolio, and will join our collection of lifestyle hotels with the Mama Shelter Rennes and the TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen. This partnership with Apsys is in line with our development strategy in major French and European cities. We’re delighted to be working with Apsys on this new Bordeaux district, a unique urban redevelopment project in France. We were immediately won over by its accessibility, its environmental approach and its functional mix, all of which reflect our values. For Bordeaux, a must-see tourist destination, our choice of the ACCOR group’s TRIBE lifestyle brand was a natural one, as it meets the needs of both business and leisure travellers, as well as locals. With this in mind, we decided to renew our trust for the fifth time in the teams of interior designer Michael Malapert, who has created a unique design perfectly in tune with the DNA of the Canopia district and the TRIBE Hotel experience,” comments Jean-Baptiste Martin, Co-founder of Suitcase Hospitality.

“TRIBE is the brand that combines a sophisticated universe imbued with urban energy and a relaxed atmosphere that challenges the status quo of traditional hotels. It’s a concept for travelers who are demanding in terms of product design, for foodies who want quality without complexity, and for modern nomads who are looking for ease with a polished customer experience. With the future TRIBE Bordeaux Centre Gare Saint Jean, we will not only strengthen the ACCOR Group’s presence in the mid-range segment, but also complete our lifestyle hotel offer. I’m very proud of this new address in such a dynamic city. It will undoubtedly boost brand awareness as we enter new, high-visibility markets,” explains Pauline Oster, VP TRIBE – Europe & North Africa.
